Art and Culture

There is a lot on offer too, for those with an artistic streak. A number of museums and a wonderful art gallery entice you with interesting and diverse exhibitions from a variety of artists.

Zug also has several old towers that are worth seeing, for example the Huwiler, Powder, Knopfli and Capuchin towers. You can look over them and even hold a party in them: just ask us about it. Since the beginning of its construction in 2001, our lovely Zug railway station has figured among the very new, modern architectural sights not to be missed. The imposing railway station has three different characteristics: with its wide entrance, hallway flooded with light and illuminated façade the station has become the visiting card for the town. The architect, Klaus Homberger, presents this impressive building as the gateway to the town, while James Turrell's light installations transform it at dusk into a sea of suspended light.

To help you find the various places and objects, the Zug Art Gallery, Zug Council and Zug Tourism have together published a map of modern art in public places. "Kunst in der Stadt Zug" (Art in Zug) can be ordered by telephone, e-mail or downloaded here.
