Gret Schell
On the Monday of carnival week, the Carpenters', Turners' and Coopers' Guild holds its annual meeting in Zug - and the historic figure Gret Schell comes too.
This brave lady, carrying her drunken husband in a pannier on her back, is accompanied by seven "Lölis" (jesters). One of them wears a sign on his back showing the time at which Gret Schell dragged her husband from the inn. During their procession through the streets of the old town, Gret and the Lölis distribute sweets, oranges and buns to the children, who shout out at the tops of their voices "Gret Schällebei".
